Techno Protection - The Solution Against Corrosion!

We are often asked, "Won't a metal screw pile that's put in the ground rust?" The answer is: "Yes...eventually."

Depending on the application and the soil conditions, the rate of corrosion can be estimated by your Techno Metal Post screw pile installer. If necessary, we can provide solutions that will help prevent corrosion or rust of our screwpiles. We call it "Techno Protection."

Techno Protection is a proprietary technique based on the cathodic protection concept and is used to minimize the corrosion of underground metallic structures such as Techno Metal Post's helical posts from temperature-related moisture issues and other environmental concerns.

Methodology

The techno protection can be applied via two methods:

1. Techno Protection Impressed Current (TPIM)
   The TPIM functions by using an active material composed of precious metal oxides and fed by a source of external current; a "rectifier". Through this rectifier, voltage is applied to the metal post, which in turn generates a difference of potential between the helical post and the active material, thus protecting the structure from corrosion.
2. Techno Protection by Sacrificial Anodes (TPSA)
   The TPSA uses the intrinsic electrochemical properties of metals by using materials made with a less noble metal than the metal used for metal screw pilings. These anodes are consumed by unloading a current, thus insuring protection of the structure.

Application

The decision of which method of protection is the most appropriate (TPIM or TPSA) as well as the application methodology is made on a case-by-case basis. While the explanation of this technology is a little complicated, Techno Protection is really as simple as 1-2-3.

3. Follow-up & verification by experienced technicians from the Techno Post/Techno Protection network.

Advantages

Techno Protection insures a substantial extension of the lifespan of the post and thus improves the value of the owner's assets. In many cases, the Techno Metal Post will last and even outlast a traditional concrete foundation - without applying one of our Techno Protection methods. However, in certain conditions, Techno Protection is advisable.
